Ineffective meetings clutter our time — and I don’t always do the best job of planning my own. So, as part of my ongoing quest to use generative AI to improve learning and performance, I built a ChatGPT coaching prompt that asks questions to help you plan and structure a meeting properly before you book it.
I trialled it myself, with colleagues and with peers. The most common complaint was that it takes a bit too long to use — which, when I dug into it, really meant people don’t have time to plan meetings thoroughly. I suspect that’s because they’re stuck in the inefficient meetings that better planning would prevent.
I think coaching prompts like this are a great way to support people learning concepts and skills: people learn by doing — in this case, by designing better meetings. Over time they’ll probably stop needing the AI coach as the skills stick. The full prompt is in the article, shared as CC0 — take it, use it, and tell me how you’ve modified it.
